Hardwired lighting runs on low-voltage wiring connected to a transformer, which is typically plugged into a garage outlet or exterior receptacle. Fixtures are wired together along a run of cable buried a few inches underground.
Brightness and Consistency
This is where the two systems diverge the most. Solar lights depend entirely on how much sun a fixture gets during the day — a light tucked under a tree canopy or facing north will charge less and produce noticeably dimmer output than one in full sun. A fixture that rusts or clouds over within a season undermines the investment regardless of whether it's solar or hardwired.
